- Free interactive tool; the page runs the calculation in the browser. The text below is the same explanation.

## How to use this tool

1. Enter your bust size in inches, or pick the nearest size.
2. Choose the sleeve style and the blouse length you want.
3. Select the width of the fabric you will buy. If unsure, use 44 inches, the most common width.
4. Tick any extras such as lining, piping or a printed fabric that needs matching, then read the estimate.

## How the estimate works

The calculator starts from a standard body length for your bust size at a blouse length of 15 inches, adjusts for the length you choose, adds the sleeve allowance, and then scales for the fabric width. Narrower fabric needs more length and wider fabric needs less. The estimate is shown precisely, and a suggested buying quantity is rounded up to the next quarter metre so you are not left short.

## Typical fabric needed, short sleeves, 44 inch fabric

| Bust size | Fabric needed |
| --- | --- |
| 32 to 34 | about 0.8 m |
| 36 | about 0.9 m |
| 38 | about 1.0 m |
| 40 | about 1.1 m |
| 42 | about 1.25 m |
| 44 and above | about 1.4 m or more |

## Fabric tips

- Buy a little extra for stripes, checks, large prints and heavy borders that need matching.
- Add lining for sheer fabrics such as net and georgette. Lining is usually the same length as the body of the blouse.
- Stretch fabrics and very stiff fabrics such as brocade can behave differently, so confirm the quantity with your tailor.
- If your saree already comes with a blouse piece, check it against this estimate before buying more.

## Important note

This is an estimate for planning and shopping. Design details such as a deep back, princess cuts, puff sleeves and heavy flare can change the amount. Share the design with Prernaa’s on WhatsApp and the fabric quantity will be confirmed before you buy.

## Frequently asked questions

Most blouses need 0.8 to 1.5 metres of 44 inch wide fabric. A size 36 blouse with short sleeves usually needs about 0.9 metres.

A full sleeve blouse needs roughly 0.35 to 0.4 metres more than a short sleeve blouse of the same size.
