- Free interactive tool; the page runs the calculation in the browser. The text below is the same explanation.

## How to use this tool

1. Enter your bust size and the kurti length from shoulder to hem.
2. Choose the style, sleeve length and the width of the fabric you will buy.
3. Add a bottom, lining or dupatta if you want them stitched from the same shopping trip.
4. Read the quantity to buy, with a breakdown for each part.

## How the estimate works

The calculator lays out the front and back as two lengths of the kurti plus allowance for the hem and seams, then multiplies for the flare of the style. Sleeves, lining, bottoms and dupatta are added, and the total is rounded up to the next quarter metre. Very wide fabric lets a straight kurti nest more closely, and larger sizes need extra width.

## Typical amounts on 44 inch fabric

| Style | Typical fabric |
| --- | --- |
| Straight kurti, 3/4 sleeve | about 2.75 to 3.25 m |
| A-line kurti | about 3.25 to 3.75 m |
| Anarkali | about 5 to 7 m |
| Straight pant (extra) | about 1.25 m |
| Palazzo (extra) | about 2.25 m |
| Dupatta (extra) | about 2.25 m |

## Tips

- Add extra for prints, stripes and borders that need matching.
- Buy lining for sheer fabrics such as georgette and net.
- Check the fabric width on the label, since narrow fabric needs more length.

## Frequently asked questions

### How much fabric is needed for a kurti?

A straight kurti with sleeves usually needs 2.5 to 3.25 metres of 44 inch fabric. A flared Anarkali needs roughly 5 to 7 metres.

### How much fabric for a kurti and palazzo set?

Add about 2.25 metres for a palazzo to the kurti quantity. For a kurti, palazzo and dupatta together, plan for roughly 7 to 8 metres for a straight style.

### Does fabric width change how much I need?

Yes. Narrow fabric needs more length, and wide fabric of 54 inches or more can reduce the quantity for a straight kurti.

### Should I buy extra fabric?

Round up to the next quarter metre and add more for prints that need matching, so there is room for fitting adjustments.

### Can Prernaa’s stitch my kurti?

Yes. Kurtis, suits and co-ords are stitched to measure, with a trial fitting before they are finished.
