How the estimate works
The bodice is sized by your bust. The skirt is worked out as a number of skirt lengths, plus a hem allowance, with more lengths for fuller silhouettes: two for a sheath, three for an A-line, three and a half for a mermaid and six for a ball gown. Sleeves, a train and lining are added, and the total is rounded up to the next quarter metre.

What is not included
Overlays, net or tulle layers, ruffles, corset boning and heavy embellishment depend on the design and are extra. Stretch fabrics such as satin with elastane may behave differently from woven fabrics.
