The 10 measurements, explained
- Bust (around the fullest part): run the tape across the fullest point of the chest and around the back, level all the way round.
- Under bust: measure directly under the bust where a bra band sits. Useful for fitted and princess-cut blouses.
- Waist (natural waist): measure the narrowest part of the torso, usually just above the navel.
- Shoulder: measure across the back from the edge of one shoulder bone to the other.
- Armhole (around the arm): measure around the top of the arm where the sleeve will be stitched.
- Sleeve length: measure from the shoulder edge down to where you want the sleeve to end.
- Sleeve round: measure around the fullest part of the upper arm, for the sleeve opening.
- Blouse length: measure from the top of the shoulder, over the bust, down to where the blouse should end.
- Front neck depth: measure from the shoulder line at the neck down to the lowest point of the front neckline.
- Back neck depth: measure from the base of the neck down to the lowest point of the back neckline.
Tips for accurate measurements
- Ask someone to help. Measuring yourself is the main cause of errors.
- Keep one finger under the tape so the blouse is not too tight to move in.
- Measure twice and use the average if the two numbers differ.
- If you have a blouse that already fits well, mention it. It can be used as a reference for the fit.
What happens after you send your card
Measurements sent online are a starting point. Prernaa’s confirms the design, fabric and any adjustments with you, and a trial fitting is part of the process so the fit can be fine-tuned before the blouse is finished. Your card is built in your browser and is only shared when you choose to send it.

Frequently asked questions
How do I measure myself for a blouse at home?
+
Wear a well-fitting inner garment, hold the tape snug but not tight, and measure bust, waist, shoulder, armhole, sleeve length, blouse length and neck depths. Ask someone to help so the tape stays level.
Which blouse measurements are most important?
+
Bust, waist, shoulder width and blouse length have the biggest effect on fit. Armhole and sleeve measurements decide comfort and movement.
Should I measure over clothes or a bra?
+
Measure over a well-fitting, non-padded inner garment or the bra you plan to wear with the blouse. Padded bras add volume and can make the blouse too loose if you measure over them by mistake.
Can I send my measurements to a tailor online?
+
Yes. Use the measurement card to share your numbers on WhatsApp with Prernaa’s. A trial fitting is still part of the process so any adjustment can be made.
Inches or centimetres?
+
Use whichever you find easier. The tool converts between them, and the tailor receives both the numbers and the unit you chose.
